The bipolar forceps are connected to an electrosurgical device and then coagulation is done with the bipolar forceps. This achieves haemostasis. The tissue is specifically encompassed with the two tips of the bipolar forceps and there is now a current flow between these two tips, which stops the bleeding. In this application, no current flows through the body to the neutral electrode. The bipolar technique is safer, gentler and requires less power.
